Jan was introduced to Yoga by her mother, a Yoga teacher in Michigan, in 1974. Jan worked with her first students in 1980. Jan’s teachings are inspired by the timeless lessons of the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Yoga Sutra, the Bhagavad Gita, the words of the Buddha, the teaching of her first teacher’s teacher Swami Sivananda, Swami Vishnu Devananda, Indra Devi, one of her current teachers Anusara Yoga founder John Friend, and her meditation teacher Sally Durgananda Kempton.
Jan’s intention for each of her students is to create a personalized yoga practice that heals and frees you from the five enemies of the heart (the kleshas) so you can live in this moment in bliss (ananda). Through a collaborative assessment of each student’s unique needs, goals, and intentions a practice emerges.
Jan is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance at the highest level (E-RYT 500)
