HEALING THE WORLD THROUGH A RESTORATIVE YOGA PRACTICE
One Breath at a Time
This five hour workshop is for yoga teachers as well as intermediate and advance practitioners who have a desire to experience and teach Yoga as a restorative, healing, and balancing practice.
A restorative yoga practice can be a transformative practice that not only heals the physical body, reduces stress, improves sleep, but it also balances the energy body through Pranayama practices (breath), bandhas (locks), and mudras (seals).
Restorative yoga is therapeutic and creates specific physiological responses that are beneficial to overall mental, physical, and emotional health. It not only reduces the effects of stress-related disease, but it can remove karma. By changing patterns of behavior, ruts (samskaras) are filled in so you no longer respond to situations and people the same old destructive ways.
During the workshop will experiment with various asana, Pranayama, and meditation practices so that you can discover for yourself which ones are the appropriate restorative practices for you and your students. We will also explore the five Koshas, the five Kleshas, the six enemies of the heart, and the seven Chakras. We do this because you are not your body, you are not your breath, you are not your emotions, you are Purusa (the self which pervades the universe). When you experience Purusa, you have been restored to your true state and you will are then a healing force in the world.
POST-NATAL YOGA
If you are an expectant mother nearing your baby’s delivery date or a woman who has recently given birth, I encourage you to attend this workshop. I will tell you a tale of two mothers and show you how to nurture yourself with Yoga. By nurturing yourself with this therapeutic Yoga practice, you will be giving a gift to your family. The changes you go through after giving birth are as dramatic as those you went through during pregnancy. This workshop will provide you with a toolkit of Asanas, Pranayama, meditation, and other Yoga techniques that will help you with the transition mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
